It is nothing less than a landmark for culture since the tower of the refurbished theatre in Saarlouis can be seen from far away. Its organically flowing façade and irregularly shaped windows are topped by a tower, displaying the name of the building “Theater am Ring” in letters 3.5 metres high. Star architect François Valentiny redesigned the building which is now home to a public library, an adult education centre, and the city’s office for cultural activities.

AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor was used to implement the highly versatile elements of the building envelope. A total of 1,700 m2 cement boards were installed for wall cladding, the tower’s plaster strips, and the signature letters atop the tower. The lightweight material is highly flexible and this gave the planners the greatest possible freedom of design in addition to superior performance. At the same time, it is weather-proof and very resilient to ensure a long-lasting structure. Further solutions were used for the exterior ceiling of the building. In this way, AQUAPANEL® significantly helped to shape a new cultural landmark for Saarlouis.
