In 2018, one of the largest high-speed railway stations in the world opened in Hong Kong - the West Kowloon Terminus Station. With its approximately 400,000 square metres of space, the station serves as a new gateway to mainland China and connects all the way to Beijing via the national rail network.
The station's unique design is characterised by the striking 4,000 glass panels that form the huge, undulating roof, and offers views of the Hong Kong Central skyline and Victoria Peak. The architects from Aedas have also created a stunning and memorable atmosphere inside the station due to the high ceiling and sloping steel columns that support the roof. The detail-oriented design runs through every room of the station.
The desire to create a building of the highest quality also extended to the choice of building materials employed, and great care was therefore taken to ensure that durable and impact-resistant materials were used. As such, when designing the wet rooms (toilets) and detention rooms, the architects opted for the proven AQUAPANEL® Technology and the AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor.

This structure ensures the boards are robust and reliable, while also boasting world class high-impact resistance and sound insulation properties. In addition, its 1 m bending radius makes it easy to create spectacular designs, including curved wall constructions.
